Mastering Natural Resonance
The Chronomètre à Résonance by F.P.Journe is a unique wristwatch that leverages natural resonance, a phenomenon first observed by Christiaan Huygens in the 17th century and later utilized by horologists Antide Janvier and Abraham-Louis Breguet. Introduced in 2000, this watch is the only one to use physical natural resonance without mechanical transmission.
The latest model features a single barrel spring powering two movements, with a differential on the first wheel distributing energy to two secondary gear trains, each equipped with a Remontoir d’Egalité. This ensures linear force and isochronism for 28 hours. The redesigned case has a crown at 2 o’clock for winding and time setting, and another at 4 o’clock to reset both seconds.
